Tribute & Message From The Family

Lola Beatrice Wortham, age 87 of Searcy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 6, 2016. She spent her final days at home surrounded by her family and enjoying the playful laughter of her great-grandchildren. She passed peacefully from this life with her loved ones beside her in her son's home where she was under hospice care.
She was born in Walker, Arkansas on November 18, 1928 to Porter Garland Holt and Belva Guy Branch Holt. She was a graduate of Griffithville High School. She was married to her husband James R. "Barney" Wortham for 35 years before he preceded her in death in April of 1983. She worked at the shoe factory as a young woman and later became a skilled seamstress, cook and housewife, working hard to support her husband's farm. In 1977, she became a charter member of Valley Baptist Church where she has been a member for 39 years. Jesus was the center of her life and she prayed diligently for her family, friends and her church. She showed others the love of Christ through her quiet and gentle spirit and leaves behind a spiritual legacy that will last for generations. She was diligent about encouraging her family to be in church at all times and to serve the Lord joyfully. She was the epitome of a southern lady who loved flowers, fancy clothes, antiques, jewelry, quilting, gospel music and good manners.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her loving son-in-law Ronnie Feather. She is survived by her brother Marvin Holt (Marie) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, her daughter Peggy Feather of Searcy, son Jimmy D. Wortham (Leslie) of Searcy, her granddaughter Amanda Watson (Miles) of Searcy, grandson Cody Wortham (Stephanie) of Romance, grandson Seth Wortham of Searcy, great-granddaughter Gracen Watson of Searcy, and great grandsons Holt and James Wortham Watson, Kole and Kade Wortham. She is also survived by loving nieces Darlene Clair (Mark) of Marshfield, Missouri and Beth Carlsward (Jon) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, loving nephews James Varner of Searcy and David Holt (Lynn) of Ft. Lauderdale. She leaves behind a host of special friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be held just prior to the memorial celebration from 2 until 3 p.m. on Monday, April 11th, with a celebration of her life at 3 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow at White County Memorial Gardens in Searcy. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to Valley Baptist church's Upward program or Building program.

Condolence & Memory Journal

To all the family of your precious Mrs Bea. as we called her.l just wanted you all to know how sorry we are for her leaving you all. I know how difficult it is to want to hold on to our loved ones and yet a peace will come at the same time to know that she is in heaven and has gone home to serve another purpose and adventure promised to us from the moment when we are born. We are born to die and everything in this world and in between is a God given gift . A gift of all her years....longer than some...a fruitful life she truly lived. Therefore rest assured she left knowing you all were in good hands and she taught you all a wonderful faith in God and your strength now too to get through all this comes from her. She has left you all in good hands. So as you lay her down today in her final resting place....rejoice that she is smiling on this gorgeous sunny day as she sits with all her loved ones in heaven.Yesterday the tears of angels welcomed her and today the sunshine is the warmth of overwhelming love as she dwells in the house of Our Lord. GOD bless you all. MADDALENE (JEFF)
